Broadcloth

Broadcloth is a tightly-woven plain weave featuring a smooth surface and soft hand. Generally light to medium in weight (often between 2-4 oz/yd²) it features little texture on either side which makes it easier to handle. Typically made from cotton or polyester-cotton blends but variations can be found in both silk and wool. Broadcloth is commonly used for dress shirts, blouses, lightweight dresses, aprons and smocks as well as home decor like pillow covers, cushion linings, curtain linings table covers, quilt backings. Broadcloth can be machine washed and is dryer safe but may be subject to mild shrinking on first wash. Broadcloth with polyester is more resistant to shrinkage and wrinkling.
