Named after the 20th century French dressmaker Georgette de la Plante, Georgette fabric is a sheer, lightweight crepe fabric with a dull finish. Originally made from silk, contemporary georgette is often made form synthetic blends and is commonly used for loose flowing garments rather than structured apparel.
