Pongee

Traditionally made from silk, contemporarily made from synthetics like polyester, pongee is a slub-woven fabric woven from yarns of varying thickness creating horizonal slubs across the weft. Lightweight but strong, this versatile material is used or a variety of clothing such as jackets as well as lining, but also works well for home accents, umbrellas, and accessories. Silk pongee is favored in high-end apparel, while polyester pongee is naturally water resistant, making it well suited for outdoor wear.ย
